Faucet and Sink Repair

Does your Bathroom or Kitchen Faucet or Sink need a Repair? Does one of your Faucets drip non stop raising your water bill? Or does your Sink leak beneath the cabinet?

If you answered yes, then you are definitely in need of a Sink Repair! Do not ignore these serious issues and address them right away! A leak will lead to your cabinet being replaced or rebuilt. Saturation means areas you may not see are being affected. The drywall behind the cabinet will be saturated as well and this provides the perfect environment for mold to grow causing illness threw out the house hold!  Definitely Not good! In the most minor of situations the dripping faucets can cause an unnecessarily high water bill.

 Inspecting For Leaks

First check for moisture inside your cabinet by feeling with your hand, the wood may feel, look or even smell damp. Next do a puncture test to check the severity off the damage. Using a pen or something with a point like a screwdriver, check to see if there is an softness to the wood.

Now finding the leak and Repairing it is essential. Start with checking the supply lines where they connect to the faucet, they should be dry to the touch. Then work your way down to the valves they also should be completely dry. If you suspect either the valves or the supply lines of being the source of the leak, replace them. I recommend replacing the valves with quarter turn ball valves(they are more reliable and easier to turn on and off in case of an emergency). As a rule if you replace valves, it is best to replace your supply lines as well. Be sure to use steel braided reinforced supply lines.

Next check for old, cracked or an over tightened P Trap and  Tail Piece these should also be dry to the touch or replaced as necessary. The Garbage Disposal lasts between 3 and 5 years depending on use. If its not past its life expectancy be sure to inspect the Garbage Disposal for a cracked housing. Also be sure to inspect the dishwasher and reverse osmosis drains for leaks if these apply to your situation.

Replace The Faucet

Now that you have taken the steps to identify your leaks then you will be well into the process of disassembling most (or all) of your Faucet connections. This is the perfect time to consider upgrading your faucet to something more elegant and functional. Everything will be new and functioning properly giving you years of enjoyment and peace of mind.
